Happy New Year.
As many of you I am more than happy to turn the page on 2020 and trust that the new year will bring some tranquality and peace.... well maybe later in the year by the way it's looking so far.
It has long been a tradition that people make "New Years Resolutions" in an effort to improve some aspect of their lives that they are not altogether satisfied with. This practice has always been attractive to me as a very flawed person with lots of room to grow. I typically focus of growing in and developing Virtue and a closer relationship with God.... Yup I said it. It's true. If you were to ask the folks that know me the best they will gladly innumerate all of my imperfections of which there are many, but the hall of fame personal failures of mine are my lack of patience and being quick tempered. Both of these character flaus are terrible because they point to my pridefullness, thankfully the Lord has Blessed me with a wonderful wife, mother, two unbelievable daughters, great staff, a sister and a brother, and a best friend and his wife that are so very helpful in this regard and are always willing to assist me in my journey by pointing out all of my flaws at a moments notice.....continously.
Anyhoo.... how about you? Did you make any resolutions this year? Yea yea yea we all need to drop a few pounds and eat better. Let me suggest something to you. Make a point of finding an insurance person that you trust and making an appointment with them to review your ENTIRE insurance portfolio. Even the policies that you have in you other residence. Gather all of the policy declarations pages and junk then call. Most folks have developed their risk management and insurance portfolio while they are at the car dealership picking up their new ride never giving it a thought again until...... the accident. Take the time when there is not a crisis to review the homowners insurance policy to understand your deductibles, pool cage coverage and other provisions. Auto insurance...they liability coverage that you carry.... is it enough. I mean Jimmy Carter was President the last time you thought about it.... have you increased your personal net worth since then? Do you have a Personal Liability Umbrella policy? Do you know what one is and how much you should have? Flood insurance....you live in Florida. It really doesn't matter that your realtor told you that you don't need flood insurance....at least it won't when the water starts to rise in your living room.
Do you own a boat? Boat insurance is NOT required in the State of Florida so many folks, unbelievebly, dont carry even a minimal amount of liability. How about an RV or Motorcycle? Here is one that is most commonly overlooked- valuable items such as jewelery, artwork, sivlerware and gold.
These times are very different and some people have started home based businesses as their main job or a side hussle. Do you have insurance for your new venture? I very inexpensive General Liability policy can protect you from financial ruin. Insurance is a business expense...build the cost of it into the price of the job. It is another tool that is necessary to complete the job that you are being hired to do, being licensed and insured gives you and your business security and credability.
